d_parture spa opened its doors in 2000 in Terminal C of Newark Liberty International Airport, and it is the innovator of the full-service, airport day spa concept and was the first to prove that passengers would get massages, manicures, facials, and other services in airports. The company's founder and CEO, Gina Stern, created d_parture spa to give weary travelers a place for healing by making massage and spa services more accessible in airports. The idea for d_parture spa was developed when Stern found herself waiting for hours in an airport and noticed a woman break a nail, and there was no place for her to get it fixed. d_parture spa was conceived based on the belief that we should all have the experiences we want, not the ones we've been dealt. Accordingly, Stern created d_parture spa to provide travelers with an opportunity to choose the experience they desire, one that allowed them to continue to focus on their wellness and self-care.
