Gina Stern wanted to give travelers a better airport experience, and what better way than creating a day spa at the airport. On November 17, 2000 Gina Stern opened the first airport spa offering weary travelers facials, massages, and even haircuts. The first airport spa was opened in Newark, New Jersey at the Newark Liberty International airport located in Terminal C. Since the first spa opened, this concept has taken off and other companies have followed in the footsteps of d_parture spa. However, d_parture spa remains the first, the only, full service airport spa.
